Agathos Kids Gatherings

Welcome to Agathos Kids!  We strive to be a safe and fun space where kids can make friends and learn about Jesus and the Bible.  Our gatherings take place during Main Services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month, and are designed to serve kids ages 18 months - 12 years of age.

Is this your first time coming to Agathos Kids?

We know bringing your kids to church can be intimidating, maybe even stressful.  We’re here to help every step of the way.  Here’s what to expect on Sunday morning.

1. Registration (first time only)

If this is your first time, you’ll need to register your children before checking in.  You can register on Sunday morning by heading to our Check In Station in the lobby.  You can also pre-register online at the link below.  Registration typically takes about 3 minutes per child, and asks for  basic information like birth dates, allergies  and emergency contact info. Once you’ve registered, you can head straight to check in!

2. Check In

When you first arrive, head to our Agathos Kids Check In Station in the lobby.  A friendly volunteer will help you check in your children, and you’ll get a special sticker for each one of them, with a matching sticker for mom or dad.  It’s important that everyone wears their sticker for the whole service – this helps our volunteers identify parents during pick up.

3. Sing Songs with Mom and Dad

Once you’ve checked in, your children will stay with you for the first 30 minutes of service while we sing together.  You can pick up a kids activity bag on your way into the gathering space if they’d like something to do.

4. Head to my classroom

Our announcements speaker will invite all children to join their teachers at the door to our gathering space.  They’ll be escorted to their classrooms for activities, a snack, a craft  and a teaching.

Meanwhile you can enjoy the remainder of service.  If your child needs you, the teacher will text you directly to let you know.

5. Pick Up

After service, parents can head to their child’s classroom to pick them up.  Please make sure you have your sticker with you.  Our volunteers are instructed only to release children to an adult with a matching sticker.
Do you still have questions or need help?  Click the contact link below, we’d be happy to help you!

Kids Calm Room

Whether you have an infant who needs a nap or an older child who needs some quiet, our Kids Calm Room is available for ages 0 - 11 and their parents to take a sensory break during service.  Our service livestream is available to watch so parents can continue to participate in service.  Ask our kids check-in station for more details.

About Our Program

Our Mission

Jesus commanded his followers to give witness of Him “in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” We believe that every young person who enters our church is our Jerusalem, and we are committed to disciple them to the best of our ability.

We aim to provide a variety of offerings that allow our youth to connect with each other, develop relationship with God and be trained in the Word.  We are always seeking ways that we can position them to grow in strength and spiritual maturity.

Leadership

Kara Mandeville

Kara leads the Agathos children’s ministry along with her husband, Joe. She is passionate about seeing kids experience God’s goodness and grow in their knowledge of who He is!

Kara enjoys encouraging the children as they routinely share testimonies of His work in their lives, both among their peers and in the main church service. Kara’s passion for children led her to become a grade school teacher until the birth of her first child.

Today, Kara is a full-time wife and stay-at-home mom of four. And because having four kids is not enough fun, she also cares for two cats and two dogs (as well as any stray that comes her way).

Toddler & Pre-K Curriculum

Our main aim in the toddler and pre-k years is that kids know God loves them, cares for them and helps them when they need Him.  We use a series of simple books and bible stories to help teach basic concepts such as “God made the world,” or “God loves me when I’m sad.”

Elementary Curriculum

The Biggest Story

God’s story is the most beautiful story ever told, full of wonder and scandalous grace. There is nothing more important for the younger generation than imparting to them a rich vision of the gospel. Based on the bestselling Biggest Story Bible Storybook by pastor Kevin DeYoung, The Biggest Story Curriculum incorporates a host of integrated print and digital components to teach kids key Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation. Featuring 104 Old and New Testament Scripture lessons for kindergarten through fifth grade, the curriculum set provides 2 or more years of teaching material that will help children understand God’s plan to redeem the world through his Son, Jesus.

Kid's Benchmarks

Being a disciple of Jesus is a lifelong process, and we’re committed to setting up our kids to be lifelong pursuers of Him. We measure our year over year success by watching for the following fruit in our kids.

1. Belonging in a Christian Peer Group

Children are excited to gather with their children’s church peers and teachers and express a sense of belonging and friendship with their believing peers.

2. Biblical Literacy

Children demonstrate a working knowledge of God’s Word, including basic Biblical structure, characters and stories, and how to read, study, and memorize Scripture.

3. Knowing Who God is & Being Known by Him

Children demonstrate an understanding of God’s Immutable Attributes, His nature and ways, and are actively seeking to know Him and be known by Him.

4. Hearing God

Children consistently hear the voice of God for themselves and others in various ways (e.g., prayer, prophecy, words of knowledge, words of wisdom, discernment, visions, dreams, etc.)

5. Personal Worship Engagement

Children worship with sincerity, devotion, and meaningful personal expression in both their daily lives and in corporate worship settings.

6. Power of God

Children readily pray big, bold prayers for themselves and others – and see them answered.

7. Sacraments / Maturing in our Faith

Children are making public professions of faith and seeking water baptism and experiencing the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

8. Equipped for the World

Children demonstrate a commitment to what God’s Word says about the issues of the day, and a readiness to be IN the world, but not OF the world.

9. Cultivating a Culture of Service / Mission

Children willingly serve in various ways within the home, church, and the broader community (e.g., family chores, prayer/intercession, church event volunteer roles, missions and service trips, witnessing to and discipling others, etc.)
